Jessie Epps

Therapy Assistant

Hi, I’m Jessie, I am one of the therapy assistants working with the speech and language therapist and occupational therapist.

I studied primary education at Canterbury Christ Church University and graduated in 2020. Whilst I was studying, I worked at and English language school, working with students from many different countries. I would help them to develop their English-speaking skills and take them out on trips and tours, in London, Canterbury, Brighton and other significant English locations.

After graduating, I went to work at a local secondary school as a higher level teaching assistant for the SEN team. I worked closely with children focusing on helping them in the classroom as well as running small intervention groups. My experiences have guided me to working at Channels and Choices within the therapy team and working within an environment that is child centred.

I have a background in performing arts, studying drama at college and being involved with dance groups from a young age. This has opened up so many opportunities for me, from performances to being able to lead my own dance and drama classes. This has always been a passion of mine and something that I hope I can continue to do.

I support the SaLT and OT by facilitating the delivery of therapeutic interventions to the children, staff and foster carers within the community, in order to promote the independence and communication for the young people in our care.

In my spare time you can find me with a book in hand or if the weather permits down at the beach enjoying the sand and sea.
