At Sallygate School, we are committed to providing our pupils with a well-rounded education that nurtures their emotional growth and supports their overall development. Through the effective utilisation of the Pupil Premium+ funding, we are able to offer a range of extra-curricular activities that promote emotional well-being. These activities include horse riding, swimming, skateboarding and scootering, Betteshanger bike riding, and outdoor learning experiences.

Horse riding is a therapeutic activity that offers numerous benefits to our pupils. It provides opportunities for physical exercise, builds confidence and self-esteem, develops empathy and responsibility towards animals, and fosters a sense of connection with nature. Through horse riding sessions, our pupils learn valuable skills such as communication, patience, and emotional regulation, while enjoying a unique and rewarding experience.

Swimming is not only a life skill but also a fantastic activity for promoting physical fitness and emotional well-being. Our pupils have the opportunity to participate in swimming lessons, which not only develop their swimming abilities but also enhance their confidence, coordination, and sense of achievement. Swimming promotes relaxation, improves mood, and helps pupils build resilience through overcoming challenges in the water.

Skateboarding and scootering provide our pupils with an outlet for physical activity, creativity, and self-expression. These activities help improve balance, coordination, and motor skills while encouraging pupils to take risks in a safe and controlled environment. Engaging in skateboarding and scootering activities fosters confidence, resilience, and a sense of achievement as pupils learn new tricks and overcome obstacles.

Betteshanger is a fantastic location that offers bike riding opportunities in a safe and supportive environment. Our pupils have the chance to explore the outdoors, enjoy the thrill of cycling, and develop their physical fitness. Riding bikes at Betteshanger encourages teamwork, spatial awareness, and problem-solving skills, while immersing pupils in the beauty of nature and promoting a sense of adventure.

At Sallygate School, we are proud to partner with Challenger Troop, an organisation that shares our commitment to supporting and empowering our pupils in their personal growth and development. Challenger Troop offers unique opportunities for our pupils to engage in challenging and rewarding experiences that align with our school values of We all Matter and We all Care.

Outdoor learning experiences play a vital role in supporting the emotional growth of our pupils. Through activities such as nature walks, environmental studies, and team-building exercises, pupils develop a deep appreciation for the natural world, learn about sustainability, and enhance their problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Outdoor learning fosters resilience, independence, and a sense of connection with the environment.

At Sallygate School, we understand the importance of utilising the Pupil Premium funding to provide enriching experiences that support the emotional growth of our pupils. By offering these extra-curricular activities, we aim to empower our pupils, boost their self-confidence, enhance their emotional well-being, and promote a positive attitude towards learning.

We are proud to offer these opportunities and recognise the positive impact they have on our pupils’ emotional development. Through the Pupil Premium funding, we ensure that every pupil can participate and benefit from these activities, regardless of their background or circumstances.
