Residential Childcare Assessor/Internal Quality Assurer
Flexible Contract
Paid hourly between £17 per hour and £20 per hour – dependant on qualifications and experience.

Channels and Choices Therapeutic Community specialise in working with children who have experienced trauma. We create a secure base for all the children in our care and we focus on achieving seamless transitions so that children can be part of a loving and nurturing family.
This post is Maternity Cover over a 12-month fixed term period and will require you to be available on a Tuesday for a learner diploma session. Additional assessing roles and IQA duties to be carried out at home or virtually.
To qualify for this role, candidates must be seasoned Residential Childcare Assessors/Internal Quality Assurers (IQA) with the capability to observe, evaluate, and review the work of learners at Levels 3 and Level 5 in residential childcare. This position encompasses a dual role, whereby you will also function as the IQA for other assessors.
As a Residential Childcare Assessor/IQA, you will be responsible for delivering training to learners by conducting face-to-face visits and weekly training sessions. We are looking for an individual who can effectively support, motivate, and mentor our learners throughout their course.
Utilising a portfolio system, you will manage a caseload of learners and attend weekly meetings with team members to foster new ideas and concepts.
In your capacity as an Internal Quality Assurer, you will play a key role in mitigating risk to the centre by overseeing all teaching, learning, and assessment activities undertaken as a training provider. Your primary focus will be on enhancing the teaching and assessment practices of our team while ensuring a positive learning experience for all learners.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Assessor qualified such as TAQA, A1, D32/D33 or CAVA
- IQA qualified – Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice
- Must have assessed in Residential Childcare to Level 3 or 5 Useful if Level 4/5 qualified or the Young People’s Workforce qualification, however not essential for the role
- At least 2 years post qualifying experience as an assessor
- Organised and able to manage multiple activities
- Be willing to travel locally and attend regular meetings
Key Responsibilities Assessor Role
- Conduct observations and assessments of learners in residential childcare settings to evaluate their practical skills and knowledge.
- Develop plans with clear goals and milestones, adjusting them based on learner progress.
- Provide one-to-one support and mentoring to help learners overcome challenges and build confidence in childcare practices.
- Organise and deliver training sessions
- Track and record learner progress using portfolios and assessment tools, ensuring compliance with standards
Key Responsibilities IQA Role
- Conduct both interim and final quality assurance activities in line with our sampling plan
- Coach, observe and develop assessors and give feedback to support the quality of teaching and learning.
- Plan, deliver and evaluate regular standardisation activities for all assessors
- Liaising with the Training Manager to support the delivery of qualifications and standards.
- Develop resources and activities to support the delivery of learning and capture assessment.
- Liaise with Training Manager to develop action plans for Assessors who may need additional support.
- Monitor, provide feedback and make recommendations of the CPD for Assessors
- Take a lead in External Quality Assurance visits
- Drive and promote continuous quality improvement and outstanding teaching and learning.
- Be enthusiastic and proactive in developing own skills within the workplace.
