These are exciting times as Channels & Choices continues to expand and develop and we currently have an opportunity for experienced, innovative and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our multi-disciplinary Therapy Team within Channels & Choices Therapeutic Community.
The post is for a full time or part time( 22.5+ hours) permanent Occupational Therapist, based at our Head Office at Kearsney Manor Kent. We offer a competitive salary range of £28,500 – £47,000 per annum based on skills and experience. Further benefits include 36 days paid annual leave per year and a loyalty scheme which rewards you with extra annual leave following 2 years of service.

Key responsibilities will include:
- Provide high-quality, evidence informed occupational therapy provision within the organisation across fostering, residential homes and school.
- Work in partnership with colleagues from across the community by providing direct advice and support to children, residential staff, and foster carers.
- Provide specialist occupational therapy assessment in relation to a child’s physical, sensory, social-emotional, cognitive and functional skills, using both standardised and non-standardised assessments.
- Through assessment or consultation, provide recommendations, interventions, treatments, strategies and support to children in our care.
- Monitor, evaluate and modify interventions measuring progress, ensuring the effectiveness of any interventions.
- Develop and monitor OT programmes implemented by the therapy assistants and class team.
- To attend, participate and provide feedback in any relevant professionals or multi-agency meetings.
- To provide specialist education and training to staff and carers across the community.
Key Skills & Attributes
Experience of the assessment of children or adults with complex sensory needs
Experience of using a range of standardised and non-standardised assessments.
Experience of writing comprehensive reports and assessments
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively on own initiative as well as within a team
Ability to build relationships with children and their carers’ and promote change
A commitment to engaging fully in the supervisory and reflective practice process.
Computer literate for report and assessment writing
Good understanding of child development and attachment
Knowledge and awareness of impact of trauma on child development.
Knowledge of the principles of sensory integration, sensory processing difficulties and the impact on the child.
Knowledge of standardised and non-standardised OT assessments used with children.
Knowledge of a broad range of clinical conditions such as; ADHD, Autism and DCD
Understanding of Child Protection & Safeguarding
Knowledge of the mental health needs of children and adolescents
