Daily Life in Our Homes
Healing in Everyday Moments
Each of our homes offers a warm, safe and welcoming space where children can learn, grow and feel grounded. Our settings range from quiet rural locations to well-connected urban areas, chosen to suit each child's needs and preferences.
Therapeutic support is built into daily routines, mealtimes and activities — because healing happens in everyday moments. Staff create a genuine home atmosphere where children feel comfortable, valued and encouraged to try new things.
Children take part in sports, hobbies and everyday activities that build confidence, resilience and social skills. From cooking and gardening to creative projects and community events, we help each child discover their strengths and interests.

Our Staffing Approach
Highly trained, stable teams providing intensive support and consistent relationships.
Minimum 1:1 Ratio
Intensive supervision ensuring every child receives close attention and consistent support.
Professional Standards
Members of professional Therapeutic Communities organisations, committed to evidence-based practice.
Ongoing Supervision
Regular support from experienced house managers ensuring quality care and staff wellbeing.
All our homes operate with a minimum 1:1 adult to child ratio, ensuring that every young person receives the close attention, support and supervision they need to feel safe and make progress. This intensive staffing model allows our teams to respond therapeutically to challenging moments and provide consistent, nurturing relationships.
Our staff are trained to high standards in attachment, trauma and positive behaviour support, and receive ongoing supervision from experienced house managers. We are proud members of professional Therapeutic Communities organisations, reflecting our commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.
Staff stability is central to our approach. We invest in recruiting, training and retaining skilled teams who understand the importance of consistency and can build trusted, long-term relationships with the children they support.
Building Secure Attachments
Healing Through Safe Relationships
We believe children heal and thrive through safe, nurturing relationships. Many who come to us have experienced disrupted attachments or trauma, and need support to rebuild trust and form healthy connections.
Our homes offer a "secure base" — a stable, predictable environment where children feel safe, understood and valued. With consistent, attuned care from trusted adults, they develop stronger emotional regulation, social skills and a genuine sense of belonging.
This therapeutic approach shapes every interaction. Our team is trained to recognise attachment needs and respond with techniques that build safety, connection and resilience. In time, children learn they can rely on adults, and that relationships can bring comfort instead of fear.
- Secure base approach to every placement
- Trauma-informed practice throughout
- Consistent, trusted adult relationships
Our Assessment and Planning Process
Initial Assessment
Every child receives a robust initial assessment when they join us. We take time to understand their history, needs, strengths and goals, working closely with placing authorities and families to ensure a thorough picture.
Specialist Assessments
Where needed, we arrange psychological and psychiatric assessments through our clinical team or trusted partners, ensuring that complex needs are properly understood and addressed.
Personalised Treatment Plans
Based on our assessments, we develop detailed, personalised treatment plans with clear goals and strategies. These plans guide the daily work of our residential, education and therapy teams.
Coordinated Support
Our integrated model means that therapy, education and residential care are coordinated seamlessly, with regular reviews and adjustments to ensure every child's plan remains responsive to their changing needs.
Pathways to Family Living
Seamless transitions and continuous support from residential to foster care.
The Stepping Stone Model
For many children, residential care is an important stepping stone on the journey towards family-based living. We work closely with our in-house fostering service to provide seamless transitions from residential to foster care when a child is ready.
This model allows children to build skills, confidence and emotional stability in a residential setting, while gradually preparing for the more family-focused environment of foster care. Because both services are part of Channels & Choices, we can ensure continuity of relationships, education and therapy throughout the transition.
Our integrated approach significantly reduces the risk of placement breakdown. Children move between settings with familiar staff support, continued access to their school and therapists, and a clear plan that recognises their progress and next steps.
- Seamless transitions between residential and foster care
- Continuity of relationships, education and therapy
- Significantly reduced risk of placement breakdown
Our Mission
To invest in building the future capacity to care for children by creating calm, nurturing homes that restore trust, promote stability and inspire growth.
