Our Five-Stage Stepping Stones Model

A structured therapeutic pathway that supports children step-by-step through safety, recovery, and growth.
1

Creating Safety & Containment

We begin by helping children feel safe, both emotionally and physically. Safety is created through structured routines, clear boundaries, nurturing environments, and consistent, compassionate care. Staff observe and understand each child's needs and provide support at a pace the child can manage.

2

Building Relationships

When children begin to experience stability, we focus on strengthening their relationships with carers, staff, and peers. Using PACE and attachment-informed principles, we promote trust, belonging, and positive connection. Goals are personalised and progress is celebrated.

3

Healing & Emotional Regulation

With stronger relationships in place, children receive support to manage and express their emotions safely. This includes individual and group therapy, creative approaches, and sensory-based strategies that help them understand their feelings and build resilience.

4

Growth & Achievement

Children are supported to reach their potential by engaging in learning, developing new skills, pursuing hobbies, and exploring identity. Structured key-working sessions build confidence, independence, and emotional literacy.

5

Stepping Stones — Transitions & Future Steps

We help children prepare for important transitions—whether moving to a foster family, returning home, changing placement, or moving into independence. The focus is on emotional readiness, continuity of care, and reassurance throughout.
